International disasters
So just this Tuesday we all heard about the disastrous earthquake in Haiti. I always have emotionful yet emotionless responses to such things. The one that I remember actually shedding tears for was the winter tsunami in 2004'( I believe). It's so disastrous! Watching people under cement, watching fathers without even a shirt crying for their only surviving(or maybe surviving) child. The sign of hope in that situation is at a thin line. When we see and experience such things we are meant to react, to feel - we are human after all yo - so it let's me be grateful for the green trees in front of my house and for the life I have.
Yet, I do actually feel a bit of a rip through my heart. All I do during all these announcements is show a sad and "ohh no" face. We feel bad. We don't even feel that close to the situation - rescue workers running around, people standing on fallen buildings - because when I look outside my window I see a bus stop and a lady standing in the rain waiting for her bus. What can I do? I am a student just going by with my finances, I don't have major savings or $200 to spare for charity. So financially, I can't do much - and that is the most one can do. Because how many of us are going to get on a plane?
I look forward to the future, where I can have the independence of an income and ability to make a decision to help someone who can't get a glass of water for survival. But may God bless us on this earth, and keep climates normal.
